A distinct identity, still developing

The American Moxie is a developing companion-performance breed founded primarily on Papillon, Miniature American Shepherd, and Border Collie ancestry. First bred in the United States, the program seeks to establish a consistent, recognizable breed with its own identity.

The breeding program combines a manageable companion size with athleticism, versatility, intelligence, trainability, confidence, and emotional stability. A reliable ability to settle and relax is as important as enthusiasm for activity.

The line remains in its foundation stage. Ebonheart’s foundation working standard does not represent AKC or UKC recognition.

Get to know the individual

The American Moxie is being developed for versatility, including service-dog work, therapy work, canine sports, acting, and active family companionship. Individual suitability varies. No American Moxie is automatically suited to a specialized working role.

American Moxies and Border Paps have distinct ancestry. Beretta’s Smokin' Guns litter was born November 2, 2026. DNA parentage testing will establish each puppy’s sire: Gunner-sired puppies will be BorderPaps, and Maverick-sired puppies will be American Moxies.
