The American Moxie program combines a manageable companion size with athleticism, versatility, intelligence, trainability, confidence, and emotional stability. A reliable ability to settle and relax is as important as enthusiasm for activity.
Health and responsible development
Health, temperament, structure, and genetic diversity are considered together. Individual dog profiles preserve their health-testing information and pedigrees, while the foundation breed standard sets out the American Moxie program’s breeding-health requirements.

Puppy selection begins at eight weeks or later, after DNA results are received, breeding-prospect evaluations are complete, and each puppy’s placement options are determined and clearly communicated. Breeding prospects may be placed through an appropriate Guardian Home or Co-ownership agreement. Approved families then choose eligible puppies in reservation-deposit order within their litter, with our candid, individualized temperament and suitability guidance. Individual puppy appearance, size, temperament, service-dog suitability, and sport performance cannot be guaranteed. Placement recommendations develop as we get to know each puppy. Placement begins with an application, five personal references, one veterinary reference, and an initial in-person or video meeting. Deposits are accepted only after approval.
Foundations and a lifetime connection
Ebonheart puppies receive purposeful early development, tailored to the litter and individual puppy. This may include enrichment, age-appropriate socialization, early potty routines, foundational manners, handling, confidence-building experiences, and a careful match to the right home.
Our training approach combines positive reinforcement, clear communication, consistent expectations, appropriate boundaries, and fair, age-appropriate corrections. Mental enrichment, appropriate activity, rest, settling, and independence all matter.
Every Ebonheart puppy includes unlimited in-person training classes and lifelong remote support for families who cannot attend in person.
