At Ebonheart Kennel, our boutique daycare program provides a small-scale alternative to traditional commercial dog daycare. Located in Hampton, Iowa, our independently owned, home-based program emphasizes thoughtful supervision, appropriate activity, and individualized care.
Rather than placing every dog into the same busy social environment, we consider personality, energy level, compatibility, and comfort.
For some dogs, a wonderful day includes playtime with suitable companions. For others, it may mean individual attention, exploration, enrichment, and peaceful opportunities to relax.
We believe a successful daycare experience should leave a dog comfortably fulfilled, not simply exhausted.

A quieter, more considered approach to daytime care.
Ebonheart Kennel’s daycare program is intentionally different from the large, high-volume daycare model. Our approach is centered on the individual dog.
Dogs have different social preferences, play styles, energy levels, and tolerances for stimulation. A confident, playful young dog may enjoy appropriate interaction with compatible companions, while a quieter or older dog may benefit from a more relaxed experience.
Neither approach is inherently better. What matters is providing an environment that suits the dog.

A Day at Ebonheart
Life at Ebonheart follows a thoughtful balance of activity and rest. Depending on the dogs attending, the weather, and individual needs, the day may include opportunities for supervised play, exploration, enrichment, personal attention, and quiet time.
We do not believe that dogs need nonstop activity to have a rewarding day. A good daycare experience should support both physical and emotional well-being.
Arrival and settling in
Dogs arrive and are given an opportunity to become comfortable with their surroundings.
Appropriate activity
Guests participate in suitable activity or interaction based on temperament and compatibility.
Enrichment and personal attention
Opportunities for exploration, engagement, and individualized interaction help make the day meaningful.
Rest and relaxation
Dogs have opportunities to rest and decompress between activities.
Pickup
Dogs return home after a day of appropriate care, companionship, and activity.
This is an illustrative rhythm, not a rigid schedule. Each dog’s day is adapted to their needs; not every guest participates in every activity.
Standard daycare
$20 per dog, per day
Daycare reservations are paid in advance. For recurring weekday daycare arrangements, payment is made ahead of the scheduled week.

These are general customer hours, not a promise that daycare is available every day. Attendance is subject to scheduling, availability, and any announced closures.
Please coordinate drop-off and pickup through your confirmed reservation. General business hours do not mean that unscheduled visits or daycare attendance are available.

Daycare can be a wonderful experience for many dogs, but the right environment matters. At Ebonheart Kennel, we consider each dog’s temperament, comfort, and compatibility before determining appropriate daycare arrangements.
Some dogs enjoy social play, while others are better suited to quieter activities or individual attention. Our priority is to provide an experience that is safe, manageable, and appropriate for the individual, rather than placing every dog into a group.

Daycare & training
Daycare With a Purpose
Ebonheart Kennel’s experience in dog training offers families an opportunity to explore additional services beyond traditional daycare. For dogs who would benefit from structured training, we offer training programs that can complement their time in our care.
Whether your goals involve better manners, improved leash skills, or building a stronger foundation of communication, we can help you explore an appropriate training option.
The standard $20 daycare rate does not include professional training sessions. Eligible Unlimited Training memberships include complimentary Daycare & Train upgrades on paid daycare visits, generally providing 30–60 minutes of dedicated training per day. Regular daycare charges still apply separately. Memberships are subject to availability.

For Venmo payments marked “Goods and Services,” Ebonheart requires a 4% increase to the agreed amount to cover payment processing costs deducted before we receive your payment. Multiply your agreed amount by 1.04: for example, $100 becomes $104.
